About Us

Ann Harris, founder of PhD Pooches, has over 25 years experience training, trialling and working with dogs.  Ann currently has two Labrador Retrievers, Aussie and Matilda, whose lives have been full of excitement.  They are much loved family pets, and were an integral part of a mobile farm entertaining children and adults alike. Aussie even has a book written about him!  Aussie and Matilda have also worked in film, television, print and commercials. Ann is especially proud of her dogs’ therapy work with adults and children with disabilities, the elderly and mental health patients.  Ann is a qualified dog trainer having completed Steve and Vicki Austin’s Statement of Attainment in Dog Training and Vicki Austin’s Puppy Class Instructors’ Programme.

Kym has lived in the Wollondilly/Macarthur area for most of her life, and has trained many of her dogs in obedience, agility and gundog obedience. She first began with her beloved Basset Hounds Chloe, Casey & Annie.  Chloe, an Australian Champion, was one of the few Bassets who gained a CD title.  Her Bassets also worked on many television commercials.
Kym currently has three beautiful Golden Retrievers; Sovereign, Trinity and Bracken, who have competed in obedience, agility, gundog, showing and appeared as stars in various forms of the media – you may have noticed Trinity appearing to leap and stop in mid air on the beach in an Optimum ad. Kym has completed the Canine Good Citizen Instructors Course, Canine Council Instructors Course, is a current instructor at Hills Dog Training Club as well as ongoing online dog/puppy training courses from Say Yes Dog Training Canada.

Ann and Kym are passionate about dogs, training and the special
human/canine relationship.
